Fue rector de la Universidad de Chile durante el período 1931-1932.
Nació el 15 de febrero de 1886 en Quito. Estudió Ingeniería Civil en la Universidad de Chile, titulándose en 1908.
Fue profesor de la Escuela de Ingeniería y decano de la Facultad de Ciencias Físicas y Matemáticas entre 1931 y 1933.
Como decano más antiguo, asumió como rector interino de la Universidad de Chile. Renunció el 4 de abril de 1932.
Falleció el 8 de diciembre de 1944.
