Nació en Butte Montana (Estados Unidos). Cursó cuatro años de estudios sobre Producción de leche y carne en el Montana State College, y un año de estudios de Economía Agrícola en el mismo establecimiento, donde recibió el título de “Master” en esa especialidad. Posteriormente ingreso al Michigan State College, donde permaneció dos años estudiando Economía Agrícola y dictando al mismo tiempo clases sobre esta materia. Le falto solo presentar la memoria para recibir el título de “Doctor of Phylosophy”. Se retiró de las aulas universitarias en 1952,.
