Casa editora musical austríaca, con sede matriz en la ciudad de Viena, operó entre 1873 hasta 1879.
Fue fundada por Friedrich Schreiber en 1873, luego de adquirir la editora de C.A. Spina, la cual a su vez había adquirido la editora musical Diabelli en 1858, finalmente, Schreiber vendió su empresa a August Cranz en 1879.
Sin embargo, lo que le faltó en longevidad lo compensó con productividad: el Monatsberichte de Hofmeister, registra y enumera 674 obras publicadas por la casa editora Friedrich Schreiber entre febrero de 1874 y octubre de 1876, principalmente valses de Strauss y otros.
También publicó numerosas obras para piano de Ignaz Brüll, y al menos una curiosidad: un arreglo de las partes para violín y violonchelo de los tríos para piano completos de Beethoven y Mendelssohn para armonio (L.A. Zellner, 1875).
